Backlinks are like recommendations. When a respected website links to you, it tells Google that your page is worth visiting. I remember the week a popular Pakistani tech blog linked to one of my small guides. Traffic to that page tripled and it stayed high for months. Knowing who links to you, and to your competitors, is one of the most useful things in SEO.
What is a backlink
A backlink is a link from another website to yours. Search engines treat backlinks as votes of trust. Not all votes are equal. A link from a relevant, trusted site in your niche is worth far more than dozens of links from random directories.
How our backlink checker works
Our Backlink Checker searches the web for pages that mention your domain, then opens each page live and checks whether it really contains a link to you. For every verified backlink you see:
- The linking page and its domain
- The anchor text which is the clickable text of the link
- Dofollow or nofollow status
You also get totals for verified backlinks, referring domains and dofollow links, plus a list of pages that mention your domain without linking yet.
How to use it
- Open the Backlink Checker.
- Enter a domain, for example yoursite.com.
- Click Check Backlinks and wait about fifteen seconds while pages are scanned.
- Review the verified links and the mentions list.
Dofollow versus nofollow
A dofollow link passes ranking value. A nofollow link has a rel attribute that asks search engines not to pass value, often used for comments, ads and social profiles. Nofollow links still bring visitors and look natural, so a healthy profile has both. Paid links should always be marked as sponsored.
Turn mentions into links
The mentions list is a hidden goldmine. These are pages that already talk about you but do not link. Send the site owner a short, friendly message thanking them for the mention and asking if they could add a link so readers can find you easily. Many will happily do it because it helps their readers too.
Check your competitors
Enter a competitor's domain to see where their links come from. If a local directory, news site or blog links to them, it may link to you too. For a side by side view, use the Competitor Backlink Analysis tool, which shows sites that link to them but not to you.
A real example
A small furniture maker from Chiniot checked his main competitor and found links from three home decor blogs, a wedding planning site and a local business directory. He contacted the same blogs with photos of his new designs and offered a short interior tips article. Two of them published his article with a link. Within two months his product pages started ranking for city specific furniture searches. It cost him nothing except a few hours of honest outreach.

Does the tool find every backlink on the internet

Why are some links marked as mentions only
Those pages talk about your domain, but no clickable link to you was found when the page was checked.
How often should I check my backlinks
Once a month is enough for most sites.
